Reviews & Testimonials

We’re overwhelmed with all the positive feedback we’re geting from editors and bloggers and customers. Here’s a sampling of what we’re hearing.

“I recently got some Laurel Hill Knitting Needles and I have to say I think I’m in love…The needles I’m using now are size #4 (US) and they are remarkably flexible and springy…The needles are very smooth and don’t catch on any of the fuzzy fibers, slick enough that I don’t have troubles when I SSK, but still grippy enough that I’ve had no trouble with the needles sliding out and dropping stitches. I really enjoy working with them.”

“These needles are smooth, the tips are a perfect blend of pointed and round. The shaft is smooth as silk and the snagging is a thing of the past. I test drove them on a particularly nasty yarn and they performed beautifully…I loved knitting with these needles even with that ghastly yarn, imagine how great the knitting experience will be with luxury yarn. I can’t wait to get something back on these new Laurel Hill needles, they have now become my favorites. The points are perfect, they are smooth and light weight not to mention pretty.”

Fibers slid along the needles as they should have because they are polished well without becoming too slippery. Decreases such as k2(3)tog went well despite the fact that I wasn’t sure the tips were pointy enough. I never felt the needles bowing or bending and they were weighted very well. And the aesthetics can’t be ignored. These are beautiful needles that make you proud to pull out in public and wonder who is going to compliment them.

“…what a dream the hooks are to crochet with! They feel so comfortable in the hand, and glide through yarn like silk. Great products!”

“These elegant instruments are divine! I love the larger thumb spot of the crochet hook, and the wood used for all the pieces is wonderful!”

Look at these gorgeous knitting needles I received from… Laurel Hill, a knitting needle and crochet hook manufacturer. Their needles are made from laminated exotic woods—they look and feel glorious in my hand…

“These needles are fabulous – I am happy to sing their praises! I find them lighter than traditional wooden needles and my hands are seldom tired after knitting for long periods of time with them. The point on my needles is fine enough to make picking up the next stitch easy, yet, not overly fine so that I might pierce or fray my thicker yarns. The woods provide just enough surface friction to keep my stitches tidy and greatly helps with precision when working more complicated patterns. I’ve even found my gauge to be more consistent using these great wooden needles!”

“Knitting on my Laurel Hill needles helped me to rediscover why I started knitting in the first place. I have always loved the finished art I create and now I not only get to make art, but I also have the chance to look at it while I knit! The quality of the needles can be seen when I finish knitting through the consistently created smoothness from the beautiful woods used for the needles. Holding a pair of knitting needles requires them to be comfortable in both weight and feel but the added bonus of being beautiful makes knitting a truly enjoyable experience. I have never before had such splendid needles, thank you.”

[In August 2008, Laurel Hill sponsored a prize giveaway for participants of the “Ravelympics.” Each participant tried to start and finish a project during the Summer Olympics in  Beijing. Of all the finishers, 40 won a crochet hook in a random drawing.]

“I received my prize today… a lovely wooden crochet hook from Laurel Hill! I’ve been concentrating on learning how to knit and putting off learning to crochet. I think the crochet lessons, just moved up on my list. The hook is a lovely dark wood – ebony, I think. If feels lovely and is to light… thanks to the folks at Laurel Hill – I think you’ve got me hooked.”

  1. My hands were beginning to hurt when i crochet for any length of time. I tried my first Laurel Hill crochet hook on an whim and now can’t wait to get them all. While they did give me a small callous on my right thumb it is not a problem and now my hand pain is a thing of the past. They are great to crochet with, smooth but don’t slip through the yarn, love the pointiness, No other hook seems to have this particular feature or the groove for the thumb and the depth of the groove in the hook is perfect, not always sliding off the yarn. I will certainly be getting all the hooks in all the sizes. Love them
