Laurel Hill is proud to be a part of the Knots of Love program, which collects knitted and crocheted caps for patients battling cancer or other life threatening illnesses. We would also like to congratulate Executive Director Christine Shively, who was recognized as an “All-Star” of the “All-Stars among Us” campaign for her extraordinary community service work through Knots of Love.
The “All-Stars Among Us” program is central to the 2009 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Summer events, which is dedicated to charitable programs and community service. Nearly three quarters of a million votes were cast at PeopleAllStars.com by fans across the nation to select the 30 “All-Stars Among Us” winners (one per MLB Club) out of the pool of 90 finalists who exemplify leadership in their communities.
MLB is also supporting President Obama’s call for community service through “United We Serve,” a program that encourages Americans to participate in community service in their area. Visit www.serve.gov to find community service opportunities in your area.
You, too, can donate a knitted or crocheted cap to Knots of Love. Buy a Laurel Hill Starter Kit, which comes complete with everything you need including a pattern and details for donation. We’ll also donate $3 to Knots of Love for each starter kit purchased.
